PUBLIC MEETINGS ON BRENHAM ISD BOND PROPOSAL BEGIN TUESDAY

The first public meeting for residents to learn more about Brenham ISD’s bond proposal is set for tonight (Tuesday).

Citizens can visit the Brenham Junior High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. to walk through Brenham ISD facilities and ask questions about the $153.9 million bond measure coming before voters in May.

Brenham ISD Communications Specialist Brooke Trahan said attendees will be able to receive detailed information on specific aspects of the bond and personally see what projects the district is looking to undertake.

Those who are unable to attend tonight’s meeting will still have opportunities in the coming days and weeks, as there are currently six meetings planned that are open to the general public.

Following tonight’s meeting, another one will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum for Chappell Hill residents.

A facility open tour will take place next Tuesday, April 5th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Brenham Junior High School and Brenham High School.

Meetings and open tours will then be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 5:30 p.m. at the Brenham Junior High School cafeteria and Tuesday, April 26th at 6 p.m. at the Brenham High School cafeteria.

The final scheduled public meeting will be a facility tour on Thursday, April 28th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Brenham Junior High School.

The bond calls for a new junior high school for grades 6-8 and the repurposing of Brenham Middle School to accommodate students in grades Pre-K-5.  All other elementary schools would also serve Pre-K through 5th grades.

In addition, the bond would fund several upgrades at the high school, including an expanded Career and Technical Education (CTE) building and CTE renovations, upgrades to the field house locker rooms and cafeteria and a band marching pad.  The proposal would also support districtwide accessibility and security improvements and fiber internet enhancements.

More information on the bond proposal is available at www.brenhamisd.net.

Early voting for the bond runs April 25-29 and May 2-3 at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.  Election Day is Saturday, May 7th.

  1. everything that was posted about the bond, that was posted can be found in past kwhi articles. as a school employee i know what is happening in the schools and have witnessed the turmoil and the problems that have been created!! promising teachers aids and training, than it never coming! going to directors and staff, giving them to pieces of paper and telling them to sign first before you can ask what they are for! the story on the football players are on the news from brazoswood, along with his record. so yes i know what is going on, there will be a mass exodus of teachers, at the end of the school year!

  2. let talk facts: when the committee, was put together last year. one of their main topic was “ at bisd growth and all the new homes, bisd will be out of space and at max capacity by 2026!

when the committee first presented the bond it had 50 projects for the $153.9 millions, now it’s 13 projects for the same money!

what happened to the other projects and what are we doing for the future besides eliminating a middle school and making it a elementary school!

the new football coach, first day on the job, fired the whole staff. remodeling the coaches offices, now trying to take way other coaches extra pay to pay his incoming coaches. buying all new weight equipment, they just redid it 2 years ago.

he is telling everyone he has unlimited money to spend and to what he wants! this is from a coach that was 5-23 at brazoswood. and he just had 3 football players indicted for attacking 4th player!

chaplin in destroying the the school apart: moving asist principles around with no training or guidance and putting in place policies for teachers with no training or right material to do their jobs. he is forcing people to move or leave!

on jan 4th when the teachers came back from christmas break, he spent 30 minutes apologizing for his leak of supplies, staff and training!!

what is our school board doing to our school

brenham is about to have a massive exodus of teachers!!!!

    1. “Just the Facts” is what your rant is lacking. Please refrain from spreading misinformation.

First paragraph is false. The committee started with a facility study of all BISD facilities and toured the district. The demographer report came later and showed manageable growth that can be planned for.

Second & third paragraphs are false. The committee reviewed over 50 projects. Their final recommendation to the Board was the final 13 consolidated projects. The board called for the bond as presented by the committee. Same projects, same amount of money. Please visit the district website for full details about the bond. I’m also sure you can visit their YouTube channel to replay those board meetings if you need further documentation.

The remaining paragraphs sound here say and lacking any credible statement. Where are “all the facts”?

      1. Trust me they don’t have any. They read a news article and determined they have all the information they will ever need. Really they didn’t even need to read an article they already had their opinion on everything government related formed. They had a preconceived opinion that is generally critical because of the people they had breakfast with were there to criticize anything government then go about their day feeling like they accomplished something because they stood their ground bashing government over bacon and eggs. Hero’s really.

      2. “Informed citizen” I don’t usually reply to much but have to speak up.Say what you want as the bond goes but the people of Washington county will decide this one.The indictment of those kids in Brazoswood was all over the news the attack happened four months ago .They were indicted March 25 ,2022.All you have to do is google it.Khou 11 and Chanel 2 aired it.
