Knifemakers and bladesmiths from around the country are meeting in Bellville tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday for a Texas Select Custom Cutlery Event.

The Austin County Fairgrounds will play host to contestants from the popular History Channel show, “Forged in Fire”, who will showcase their work and take part in various competitions.

Cowboy Szymanski, owner of Phenix Knives in Bellville and a competitor in the first season of Forged in Fire, said the event has quickly gained a large following, and tomorrow’s gathering will be the biggest one yet.

Doors open to the public at 9 a.m. each day. Guests can also participate in a live auction and a drawing for a custom blade from Phenix Knives. Proceeds from the drawing will go to the Bellville Engineering, Science and Technology (B.E.S.T) Booster Club to support the club’s science camp and scholarship fund.

Tickets are $5 at the door. Parking at the Fairgrounds is free.
