HOUSTON SWORN IN AS PRECINCT 3 J.P.

Washington County’s new Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 has begun his time in office.
Duane “Dane” Houston was sworn in after this (Tuesday) morning’s Washington County Commissioners meeting.
Houston, who defeated Daniel McCarthy in the March Republican primary, fills the unexpired term of Ken Tofel, who retired from the post in June. The term concludes at the end of 2022.
The vacancy had been filled temporarily by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Douglas Cone, who served concurrently in the Precinct 2 and 3 positions. He resigned from the Precinct 3 post effective this morning, but maintains his duties in Precinct 2.
Houston is unopposed in the November general election. He will begin his elected term at the start of the new year.
