NAVASOTA MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

A Navasota man will be going to prison for a long time after pleading guilty to sexual assault charges in the 12th District Court.
Grimes County District Attorney Andria Bender announced that 24-year-old Hector Arredando Garcia has pled guilty to two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.
He was sentenced to 18 years in prison by Judge David Moorman, and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a possible sexual assault back on January 20, 2021.
Investigator Blake Baldobino determined that Garcia had a sexual encounter with an underage female.
After conducting an interview with the victim, Baldobino was able to identify other potential victims.
During an extensive investigation, which included interviews, search warrants, forensic downloads, and forensic testing, it was determined that Garcia had sexual encounters with multiple underage females over a period of nearly two years.
On April 8, 2021, Baldobino conducted an interview with Garcia at his home in Navasota and obtained a confession.
Garcia was arrested and taken to the Grimes County Jail.
Assistant District Attorney Courtney Cain said that they reached a plea agreement in the case after many conversations between the D.A.’s Office and the victims in the case.
During the trial phase, victims and their families that were given the opportunity to make victim impact statements to Garcia.
