SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN AUGUST
Sales and tax distributions in Washington County were all up for the month of August.
Washington County took in $378,347 this month, compared to its receipt of $333,937 last August, an increase of 13.29 percent. So far in 2022, the county has received $2,832,912, up 23.42 percent from the $2,295,279 it received through this time last year.
Brenham’s August rebate was $788,404, up 10.55 percent from a year ago, when it received $713,133. The city’s rebates so far this year total $6,031,147, up 17.77 percent from last year’s payment-to-date of $5,120,803.
Burton’s payout in August was $11,107, an increase of 29.98 percent from the $8,545 it received last August. To date, the city has received $66,266, 11.59 percent up from last year, when it had received $59,382.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations from the state this month, up 10.8 percent from last August and up 16.7 percent for the year so far.
