WEEKEND VOLLEYBALL ROUND-UP: BRENHAM, BURTON, AND RT-C

The Brenham Cubette Volleyball Team finished the Westwood Tournament on Saturday with two more wins before suffering their first defeat of the season.

The Cubettes started the day by beating Antonian 25-22, and 25-15. Brooke Bentke had 11 kills, Kristen Kuehn finished with 12 digs, and Charli Crowson dished out 12 assists.

In the second game, they beat Austin Westlake 25-19 and 25-23. Bentke had 14 kills, Kuehn finished with 4 aces and 18 digs, while Crowson added 13 digs and 18 assists.

Brenham then fell to Liberty Hill in the Gold Bracket Finals 25-20 and 25-9.  Crowson had 4 kills and 7 assists, while Kuehn had 10 digs.

The Cubettes finished the tournament with an 8-1 record, and are now 9-1 on the season.

They will host St. Agnes on Tuesday night at the Brenham High School Gym.  The JV and Freshmen play at 4:30pm, with the Varsity to follow at 5:30pm.

 

The Burton Lady Panthers split their final two matches of the Westwood Tournament in the Copper Bracket.

After dropping the first set against Waco 25-15, Burton rallied to win the next two sets 25-21 and 25-15 to take the match.

The Lady Panthers then lost to eventual Copper Bracket winner Seguin.

Burton won the first set 25-16, but then Seguin won the next two sets 26-24 and 25-10 to win the match.

The Lady Panthers will travel to Iola on Tuesday against Iola and Bremond beginning at 4pm.

The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes split their final two matches of the Navasota Tournament on Saturday.

RT-C lost to Franklin 26-24 and 25-21.  Tess Eilers had 8 kills and 16 digs, Maggie Salinas added 14 digs, and Mallory Krause dished out 18 assists.

RT-C then beat Richards in the Consolation Game 25-5 and 25-18.  Kaysie Ward had 7 kills, Jill Eilers had 5 aces, Salinas added 10 digs, and Krause dished out 19 assists.

The Cubettes will host North Zulch on Tuesday beginning with the JV at 5pm, followed by the Varsity afterwards.
