BLUE BELL PARTNERS WITH DRONE COMPANY FOR DELIVERIES IN DFW AREA
Blue Bell Ice Cream is taking to the skies in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area through a new partnership with a drone company.
Residents who live in neighborhoods in Frisco or Little Elm are able to get pints of Blue Bell Ice Cream delivered to them through the commercial drone delivery service, Wing. The service launched in April.
In a statement, Blue Bell says that delivery areas are restricted to a certain radius, so the ice cream remains frozen from the time the drone takes off to when the ice cream is delivered.
In addition, Blue Bell says when customers order two pints of ice cream, proceeds will go to Frisco Fastpacs, a nonprofit that provides food over the weekend for Frisco ISD students.
Wing is also delivering products from Walgreens, Texas Health and easyvet.
The drone company says it is starting small and plans to expand its service area over time.
