NAVASOTA POLICE SEIZE FIREARMS FROM HOME AFTER PURSUIT; THREE ARRESTED

A report of someone waving a gun Tuesday in Navasota led to a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash, several firearms being found in a home, and the arrest of three Navasota men.

Navasota police received information around 5:45 p.m. that a man driving in a white colored vehicle in the 500 block of Laredo Street was displaying a firearm and making threats to citizens.  The vehicle was found driving in the 800 block of Laredo Street, but it fled when officers attempted to stop it.

The vehicle traveled westbound at a high rate of speed, but later crashed into two parked cars in the 600 block of West Virginia Street.  Three men exited the vehicle to the north.

After a short pursuit by police and Grimes County Sheriff’s deputies, 25-year-old Anthony Woods was arrested and found to be in possession of a stolen firearm.  A block away, 22-year-old Quantavius Moore was taken into custody.

The third subject, 28-year-old Dreion Moore, fled into a residence in the 400 block of Ella Street and barricaded himself inside.  After several minutes, Moore and another man came out of the home.  Moore was arrested, while the other man was released at the scene.

Police executed a search warrant at the Ella Street residence and seized several firearms.

Woods was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Evading on Foot, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  He had outstanding warrants for Deadly Conduct – Discharging a Firearm out of the College Station Police Department and four Navasota Class C warrants for No Driver’s License, Disorderly Conduct – Fighting, and two Failure to Appears.

Quantavius Moore was charged with Evading on Foot.

Dreion Moore faces charges of Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, Failure to Comply – Striking a Motor Vehicle, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  He also had a parole warrant out of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for Assault on a Public Servant.

All three were transported to the Grimes County Jail.

Assisting the Navasota Police Department were the Navasota Fire Department, Grimes County Constable Wes Male, Grimes County Sheriff Office, Brazos County Sheriff Office, DPS, and ATF.

  1. I wish the mugshots were available, but I can already picture with the three look like.

Again, with the gun violence that is ever-present in the news, I certainly hope that the Grimes County law enforcement personnel, from the district attorney downward, will
amass charges for everything that is possible in this case and that they will all be presented in court when the three are tried. There is no point in dealing out plea bargains and reduced sentencing for persons such as these.
