WALLER SCHOOL BUS COLLIDES WITH AN 18 WHEELER
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a traffic crash involving a Waller ISD school bus and an 18-wheeler earlier this (Monday) morning.
The bus was carrying 28 Waller High School students and traveling westbound on FM 1488. It stopped to turn left onto Kickapoo Road when the 18-wheeler crossed into the lane that the bus was in, and the two vehicles collided.
According to a statement from Waller ISD, there were no major injuries, however, four students were transported for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the bus had no injuries. Early reports from DPS and Waller ISD indicate that the bus driver was not at fault.
Parents and guardians of all those involved have been contacted and remaining students were taken home with their families, or to Waller High School where nurses and counseling staff are available as needed.
The school district is actively working with all those involved to ensure that they receive any medical treatment or counseling services needed for recovery.
Superintendent Kevin Moran said that right now their top priority is taking care of their students and the driver who were involved in the crash. He added that it was a scary morning, and that he thankful for all those involved in taking care of their Waller ISD family.
The school district issued their thanks to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Waller County EMS, DPS Troopers, School Resource Officers, and the Waller Police Department for their immediate response to the scene.
Waller High School and School District administrators also came to the scene to assist in taking care of those involved and their families.
Thank the Lord that no one was seriously hurt. Sending PRAYERS to all and their families????
