New home development was the primary driver in September’s building permits issued by the City of Brenham.

Sixteen new homes were permitted in September for $2,384,932.  Ten of the homes are being built by DR Horton in the Liberty Village subdivision next to Brenham Elementary School.

So far this year, the city has permitted 132 new homes for $24,542,086, outpacing year-to-date totals from 2021 of 126 homes for $20,716,168.

The largest individual permit in September was for $654,772, issued to HDL Research Lab for interior warehouse remodeling for office space at 406 West Blue Bell Road.

Thirty-five permits were issued in total last month for $4,185,369.  That equals the amount of permits taken out in September 2021, but last year’s permits valued higher at $14,022,223.

So far this year, 318 permits have been issued for $39,617,466, in comparison to 310 permits for $59,580,172 at this point a year ago.
