CUB FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS LAMAR CONSOLIDATED 17-3 FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Rylan Wooten

The Brenham Cub Football Team continued their winning ways with a 17-3 victory over Lamar Consolidated last (Friday) night.

The first half was a defensive battle.  The only score came on a 21 yard field goal by Grant Mayfield with 7:07 left in the first quarter to put Brenham up 3-0.

Lamar Consolidated would tie the score at 3-3 in the third quarter

on a 40 yard field goal by Edwin Quijada at the 8:09 mark.

However, Brenham would go back out in front on a 20 yard touchdown pass from Rylan Wooten to Datavian Neal-Franklin at 4:53 in the third quarter to make 10-3 Cubs.

Wooten would then find Franklin again on a 14 yard touchdown pass with 1:31 left in the third to make it 17-3 Cubs.

While Lamar Consolidated was statistically the best defense in the district coming in, the night would belong to the Cub defense, who held the Mustangs to just 105 yards of total offense.
