UNITY THEATRE TO PRESENT ‘CONEY ISLAND CHRISTMAS’ DEC. 1-18
The holiday season is on its way to Unity Theatre in Brenham with Coney Island Christmas.
The holiday play by Donald Margulies, based on the story “The Loudest Voice” by Grace Paley, plays on Unity’s Main Stage December 1-18.
An older Shirley Abramowitz tells her great-granddaughter the story of when she was cast in the role of Jesus in her school’s Christmas pageant. As a young Jewish girl, her immigrant parents are horrified and will not allow her to participate. Weaving together nostalgia, music and merriment, the story is for people of all ages and faiths, and shows what it means to be an American during the holidays.
Showtimes are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. A preview performance on December 1st will feature a talk-back session with the cast and crew after the show, while Unity Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director, Kate Revnell-Smith, will hold a director’s chat half an hour before the show on December 10th.
Unity Theatre Circle Members may begin making reservations on Monday. Subscribers can reserve seats starting November 14th.
Tickets go on sale to the public on November 21st and are $28. Tickets to the preview performance on Thursday, December 1st are $21. Student tickets are $15; and any unsold seats are $15, 15 minutes prior to curtain.
