WASHINGTON COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD TO MEET TUESDAY

  

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors will discuss a handful of items at their next meeting.

One of the agenda items is for the Chief Appraiser to appoint members to an agricultural advisory board.

The purpose of the board is to advise the Chief Appraiser on the valuation and use of agricultural land.

The advisory board must have at least three members.  Each member must be a landowner in the Washington County Appraisal District and have been residents for at least five years.

Members serve two-year terms.

Also on the agenda, is for the board to determine the Wildlife Use Requirement

In 2002, the Wildlife Use Requirement was adopted.

The Rule mandated that if land had been split from a larger tract, it must meet a minimum number of acres in order to receive wildlife.

In addition, there is a lesser minimum acreage requirement if the property is part of a wildlife management property association.

The District has been using a minimum acreage of 16.7 acres for regular wildlife acreage that is split from a larger tract but needs to set a minimum for properties that are part of a wildlife management property association.

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors meet on Tuesday at 10am at the Washington County Tax Appraisal Office at 1301 Niebuhr Street.
