LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HOLDS STEADY FOR OCTOBER
Unemployment numbers saw little change over the past month in Washington County.
According to the Texas Workforce Commission, Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of October was 3.8 percent, the same rate it was for September.
The county’s number of unemployed residents in October rose slightly to 561 from 555 in September.
Meanwhile, the amount of employed residents and the total civilian labor force both fell last month to 14,073 and 14,634, respectively. In September, there were 14,198 residents employed out of a civilian labor force of 14,753.
In October 2021, the county reported an unemployment rate of 4.5 percent, with 676 people jobless.
The state’s unemployment rate in October held steady from the month prior at 4 percent.
Around the area, unemployment rates include:
- Austin County – 3.7 percent, down from 3.8 percent in September.
- Brazos County – 3 percent, no difference from September.
- Burleson County – 3.7 percent, up from 3.6 percent.
- Fayette County – 3.5 percent, up from 3.4 percent.
- Grimes County – 4.7 percent, up from 4.6 percent in September.
- Lee County – 3.2 percent, down from 3.3 percent.
- Waller County – 4.2 percent, up from 4.1 percent.
