A $13,478 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the City of Brenham will help Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham add a chest compression system to its hospital emergency room.

The Community Development Partnership Program grant, paired with $3,369 in matching funds from the medical center, will provide equipment to help medical staff save lives during cardiac emergencies.

Baylor Scott & White – College Station Region President Jason Jennings said the essential device will be used by caregivers to treat cardiac arrest patients. He said the grant-funded equipment strengthens Baylor Scott & White’s efforts to enhance patient experiences and the capabilities of the care team.

The community grant is one of 46 grants awarded recently through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program, which helps volunteer fire departments, local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund capital improvement projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas.

The program is part of LCRA’s effort to give back to the communities it serves. The City of Brenham is one of LCRA’s wholesale electric customers and is a partner in the grant program.
