Longtime La Grange Head Coach/Athletic Director Matt Kates has resigned after 13 seasons with the Leopards.

Kates came to La Grange in 2010 after being an assistant coach at Fort Worth Arlington Heights.

Kates said his time in La Grange has been a blessing and that he looks forward to “future opportunities that may or may not include coaching.”

During his time with the Leopards, Kates compiled an 86-61 record, and his teams made the playoffs in nine out of those 13 seasons.

His best seasons came in 2013 and 2014 with Runningback J.K. Dobbins, who later went to college at Ohio State, and currently plays for the Baltimore Ravens.

La Grange went 27-2 over those two seasons including seven playoff victories.
