The event treated a sold-out crowd of 580 guests to Bingo games for 30 designer purses, a bucket drawing, and food and drinks at Silver Wings Ballroom.

Brenham GameChangers Board President Dr. Heather Thielemann said estimates from the event show the organization brought in around $60,000.

Dr. Thielemann said the goal of GameChangers is to make a difference in the lives of children and the community.

Programs provided by Brenham GameChangers include activity scholarships to allow K-12 students to register for activities like sports, music, art and dance.  Dr. Thielemann said she hopes to expand the scholarships from covering registration fees to supporting children with equipment and supply costs.

New and returning initiatives include an etiquette lunch for high school students; a professional readiness event to teach preparation for interviews, resume writing and how to apply for jobs; and the P.E.A.C.E. program held in collaboration with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and local schools, taking core values taught to students and sharing them with businesses. The organization also hosts a school supply drive in the summer.
