SHOOTINGS IN NAVASOTA, BEDIAS UNDER INVESTIGATION
Authorities in Grimes County are investigating two Monday afternoon shootings.
The first shooting was reported around 3:30 p.m. on County Road 117 near Highway 90 in Bedias. One person was shot and was hospitalized in Bryan. The victim’s condition was believed to be stable.
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office told the Navasota Examiner that a person of interest has been detained and is currently being interviewed.
Then around 6 p.m., Navasota police responded to a shooting scene on Highway 6 northbound, near Martha’s Bloomers. According to police, two people in a vehicle sustained gunshot injuries, and the suspect’s vehicle fled the scene.
The two victims were taken to a hospital in Bryan in unknown condition. The highway was closed for several hours before reopening.

Navasota Police Chief Michael Mize told the Examiner that the shootings are not connected.
