CUBS DROP A HEARTBREAKER TO COLLEGE STATION 2-1

Rylan Wooten (Mark Whitehead)

It was another day and another pitchers' duel between the Brenham Cubs and the College Station Cougars. Once again the Cougars came out on top 2-1.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when College Station got on the board. Blake Jones was safe on a wild pitch on strike three. He later stole second and scored on an RBI single by Tyler Abdalla to put the Cougars up 1-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Lane Sparks hit a one out double. Two batters later, Drake Bentke hit an RBI triple that scored Sparks and tied it 1-1.

College Station scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a Cub fielding error to get the walk-off win.

Despite the loss, Dawson Keim pitched a great game. He went all seven innings, allowing two unearned runs, four hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Offensively, the Cubs left 12 batters on base.

Brenham drops to 13-7 overall and 0-2 in district.
