WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO ACT ON CONTRACT FOR JAIL GENERATOR

  

A construction services contract for a diesel generator at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will come before Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday.

The contract is with W-Industries, LLC for the installation of a 500 kW Caterpillar generator, generator pad, docking station and equipment pads.  Per the contract up for consideration, the negotiated price is $702,169, to be paid with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. 

At a meeting in December, commissioners agreed to alter the contract to downsize from a 750 kW generator, saying at the time that it was more powerful than what was needed at the jail.

If the contract is approved, services of the contractor will begin on Tuesday and must be completed by the end of 2026.

Another ARPA project will be considered on Tuesday, that being a contract with Brightengale for the sound system at the Washington County Expo.  The general services, supplies and/or equipment contract is listed at $358,764 and will implement a digitally integrated public announcing system at the Expo.

Locations covered in the agreement include the event center, where the upgrades are expected to be done by June 1^st; the livestock barns and sales facility, to be finished by August 1^st; the horse barn, to be wrapped up by October 1^st; and the rabbit barn, VIP room, food court and entertainment plaza, to be complete by December 1^st. 

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will consider:

• A proclamation declaring the month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in Washington County.
• Approval for an additional IT specialist.
• A purchase agreement for fleet fuel with Voyager/US Bank using a state contract through Texas SmartBuy.
• Declaring a Kohler generator as salvage property to be listed on GovDeals.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
