FIRE DESTROYS TRUCK, TRAILER ON I-10 NEAR FLATONIA
A truck and trailer were destroyed in a fire Tuesday evening near Flatonia.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 7 p.m. reporting a truck pulling a camper on fire on I-10 near the 658 mile marker westbound.
The Flatonia Fire Department responded along with a Flatonia police officer and Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy. Upon their arrival, the Ford F-250 truck and camper were fully engulfed. The driver, who was out of the vehicle, attempted to unhook the trailer but could not.
Flatonia firefighters extinguished the fire. The Texas Department of Transportation was requested to respond to the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, the fire is believed to have started from a wheel on the trailer. The driver told authorities he had just bought the trailer at an auction in Houston and was taking it back to San Antonio.
There were no reported injuries, but the truck and trailer were a total loss.
