LADY PANTHERS BEAT BRAZOS CHRISTIAN 11-1

While waiting for the playoffs to start, the Burton Lady Panthers kept busy by winning a warmup game last (Tuesday) night against Brazos Christian 11-1.

It was a big night for Bailey Glaesmann, who went six innings allowing one hit, one unearned run, one walk, and striking out twelve batters. One of those batters ended up being her 200th strikeout of the season.

Brazos Christian got on the board with an unearned run in the top of the first inning. After that it was all Burton.

In the bottom of the first inning, Reagan Roemer walked and came around to score on an error. Amaya Williams followed with a double, stole third, and scored on a groundout by Glaesmann. The Lady Panthers led 2-1 after the first inning.

Allie Biggs and Jennifer Lopez led off the bottom of the second inning with back-to-back triples. Kalli Pohl walked to put runners at the corners. Roemer doubled home Lopez, and then Pohl scored on an error. Aerynn Huntsmann singled home Roemer. She later stole second and was singled home by Williams, and Burton led 7-1 after two innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, Katy Whitfield, along with Poehl, and Roemer, all reached base on a walk. Whitfield scored on an RBI single by Huntsman that put the Lady Panthers up 8-1.

Burton would add three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Williams walked, and Glaesmann followed with an RBI triple. Glaesmann then stole home. Paige Fritsch singled, stole second, and then scored on RBI single by Lopez to make it 11-1 Lady Panthers, and enforce the ten-run mercy rule.
