SWEDISH SUPERSTAR GUNHILD CARLING TO PERFORM AT THE BARNHILL CENTER MAY 27
An internationally acclaimed jazz star will perform this month at The Barnhill Center.
Gunhild Carling will bring her high-energy act to Brenham when she takes the stage on Saturday, May 27th at 7 p.m. Carling is a Swedish entertainer and multi-instrumentalist who bridges the gap between the 2020s and the Roaring Twenties.
The Barnhill Center producer Sharon Brass says Carling is “a joyous singer” who has New Orleans jazz and big band swing as her foundation. She also dances, juggles and plays 10 instruments, sometimes within the same song.
Carling is often featured with big bands, symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, and as a diva vocalist with Postmodern Jukebox. She has over 50 million online followers and is a TV celebrity in Sweden, having appeared in several programs.
In total, Carling has released 11 albums starting in 1985 with her debut, “I’ve Lost My Heart In Dixieland.” Most of her albums and concerts feature her family members, who are also musicians and vocalists. Some albums were recorded with orchestras and some with her big band.
