LA GRANGE POLICE CHIEF WARNS OF MOVIE PROP MONEY CIRCULATING
La Grange residents and businesses should be on the lookout for phony money.
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath told the Fayette County Record that several businesses reported they were paid in fake $20 and $100 bills. The businesses did not realize the money was not real until they attempted to deposit it at the bank.
The bills look authentic, but they have the words “Motion Picture Use” and “Motion Picture Copy Money” printed in different areas. Gilbreath said the fake bills are used as film props and that anyone can buy them online.
The businesses that received the false currency have not been able to identify who used it.
Anyone who finds fake money is asked to report it to La Grange police at 979-968-5806.
