BRENHAM PLANNING & ZONING TO CONSIDER ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
Potential revisions to the City of Brenham zoning ordinance will come before the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday.
City development services staff is recommending updates to the ordinance and current site development standards to accommodate new additions and modernize requirements.
The specific amendments to be debated include clarifying the definition of food truck sites to prohibit the storing of food trucks on residential property; changing R-1 single-family residential zoning to allow duplexes and twin homes with specific use permits; adjusting R-2 mixed residential zoning to allow accessory dwelling units and twin homes as permitted uses and including parameters for twin home and townhome developments; deleting information on noise regulations that duplicates or contradicts the noise nuisance ordinance; and removing provisions that allow conditions to be placed upon variance requests.
The possible changes come after recommendations from the city-appointed housing task force, which was formed to research ways to expand Brenham's available housing options.
On the consent agenda, commissioners will hear requests from Gregory Appel and John Appel Rental Partnership to approve preliminary and final plats creating five lots totaling 1.61 acres west of Timber Oaks Drive and southwest of Oak Crest Lane.
The commission will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
