BONNIE & CLYDE: A MUSICAL COMEDY TO PLAY SATURDAY IN NAVASOTA

  

The City of Navasota is hosting a one-night-only show of the popular Bonnie and Clyde story this Saturday.

The musical comedy presented by Texas Comedies will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Brosig Performing Arts Center at 105 Brosig Avenue. 

Navasota’s history runs deep with a connection to the infamous Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, who were known for their bank robberies and other crimes during the Great Depression.  Frank Hamer, Navasota’s City Marshal in the 1900s, later led the 1934 posse that tracked down and killed Bonnie and Clyde. 

The one-hour show with a live band is based on postman-turned-deputy Ted Hinton’s memoir, as well as newspaper and crime magazine stories of the 1930s. 

Texas Comedies, based in Austin, creates and performs throughout the state.  The production is supported in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts. 

The city has partnered with Navasota ISD by utilizing its facilities for the performance.  A portion of funds received from the show will be donated back to Navasota ISD’s high school theatre programs.
