SIX CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls on Friday.
The first call came in near 7 a.m. at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived and found the alarm was activated by one of the heaters being turned on.
Around 7:15 a.m., units were dispatched to the intersection of West Blue Bell Road and Republic Street for a smell of gas. The fire department made it to the scene and found the smell was coming from garbage at Republic Services.
Just before 8:30 a.m., the department went out to the 3000 block of Creekside Drive for a fire alarm, but were cancelled enroute after receiving proper code due to work being done on the house.
Units then responded to a home in the 1000 block of Robinhood Road around 9:30 a.m. for a report of a gas odor/leak coming from the meter outside the home. They remained on location until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived and released them from the scene.
At 1:45 p.m., firefighters were called for a vehicle fire/hazmat situation at FM 389 and Highway 290 West. A tractor trailer had an oil leak which needed fluid mitigation. The department used absorbent to clean up the oil on the roadway.
Units were then dispatched at 2:15 p.m. to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm. They returned to service after finding that work was being done to the system, which activated the alarm.
