96TH AUSTIN CO. FAIR STARTS FRIDAY
The 96th Annual Austin County Fair gets underway this weekend.
Festivities for the fair, themed “Denim Jeans & Country Dreams”, begin on Friday at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville.
Friday’s schedule includes the start of the barbecue cook-off and the champion drive livestock show. Saturday will feature the fair pageants, with the crowning of the Little Mister and Miss at 9 a.m., followed by the Junior Mister and Miss and Junior Fair Queen contests. The Fair Queen will be crowned at 5:30 p.m.
Twelve candidates are vying for the honor of fair queen: Olivia Bagnall – Bolten, Dominique Rae Castillo, Jessica DeBerry, Lylah Durrett, Ryleigh Gilfoil, Peyton Codi Havemann, Tylin Jackson, Keanah Lizotte, Sophie Martinez, Emmy McDaniel, Jaylen Tesch and Samantha Weems.
Entertainment on Saturday will be provided by Kevin Robinson at 8 p.m. and Dos Borrachos – Kevin Fowler and Roger Creager – at 10 p.m.
Livestock judging opens on Sunday and will run through Thursday, October 12th, the same day that the fair parade will ride through downtown Bellville starting at 10 a.m. The Youth Supreme and Country Fair Auction will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 1 p.m.
Other music performances will be on Thursday, October 12th with Kin Faux at 8 p.m. and Coffey Anderson at 10 p.m., Friday, October 13th with Wade Bowen at 8 p.m. and Pat Green at 10 p.m., and wrapping up on Saturday, October 14th with Mike Ryan at 9 p.m. and Easton Corbin at 11 p.m.
In addition to the music, fairgoers can look forward to activities like a carnival, a petting zoo, rodeo action and comedy shows.
