LOCAL OFFICIALS SPEAK TO TENDER HEARTS
The first grade “Tender Hearts” from American Heritage Girls Troop 0514 got meet with some Washington County officials during a Friday afternoon event hosted by Keep Washington County Beautiful.
The Tender Hearts worked on a project to place pollinator flowers into the four flower boxes that are in front of the Constable’s Office.
Precinct One Constable Ken Holle talked about the important work that Constables do in the county and he also discussed civic service.
Washington County Judge John Durrenberger and his Cherryl, who is Vice President of Keep Washington County Beautiful, spoke to the squad about the importance of protecting pollinators, what they need to survive, and how to help pollinators thrive in the community before they began working on the flower boxes.
The girls are also currently working on their Citizen and Government badge.
Troop Leader Yvonne Steinbach said that the Tender Hearts are learning about how our government works, how we can have an impact on it, and the many opportunities to serve to make our community, state, and nation an even better place.
Tender Hearts helping included Shelby Whitehead, Myla Fillmore, Emily Brinkmeyer, Rylie Locke, Cadence Morgan, Katie Soman, Teagan Steinbach, and Bronwyn Steinbach.
