WCSO: SHOTS FIRED DURING SUSPECTED ROAD RAGE INCIDENT, MAN ARRESTED

A San Antonio man was arrested by Washington County deputies on Saturday after a suspected road rage incident.

James Lee Oneal
(Washington Co. Jail)

Washington County Sheriff’s Lieutenant David Blakey reports that Sergeant Nicholas Pfeffer, Corporal Albert Vasquez and Deputy Bryan Solis responded shortly before 9:45 a.m. to Highway 290 East near Marshall Lane for a report of an individual driving a gray Lexus and discharging a handgun at another vehicle.  The caller reported that their vehicle had been struck multiple times by bullets.

With the assistance of the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and Brenham Police Department, deputies located and stopped the Lexus just inside Waller County.

After speaking with witnesses and observing the damage to the caller’s vehicle, as well as locating multiple handguns in the Lexus, Washington County deputies placed 52-year-old James Lee Oneal into custody, charging him with Deadly Conduct, a third degree felony.

The sheriff’s office says the victim did not know Oneal, and it is believed this was a result of road rage.  The victim and their passenger were not injured.

Investigation will continue.
