Ben Bius has announced his candidacy in the March 2024 Republican primary for the seat held by Kyle Kacal, who is not pursuing re-election

Bius is the founder and principal broker of B&B Properties, and his business experience centers on economic and commercial development, real estate investment, brokerage and construction.  He previously ran for House District 12 in 2021, where Kacal won following a runoff election with Bius.

Bius bills himself as a lifelong conservative who wants the Texas House’s “bickering” and “failure to get things done” to end.  His top issues include border security, elections integrity and ensuring that the growth coming to the communities of House District 12 is appropriate for the region.

Bius graduated in 1979 from Sam Houston State University with a finance degree before starting his business in 1981.  He says it is vital to foster the growth of the area’s educational partners so they can continue creating the leaders of tomorrow.

Bius joins two other Republican candidates in the March primary: Trey Wharton of Huntsville and John Harvey Slocum of Brazos County.

Monday is the last day to file for a place on the primary ballot.
