CUBETTES WIN ONE AND LOSE ONE AT BRENHAM TOURNAMENT

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team split their games on opening day of the Brenham Tournament yesterday (Thursday).

Shadow Creek got the game started with two runs in the top of the first inning off of Cubette starter Heidi Busker.

Brenham would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third inning. Avery Maurer reached on a single, and would come around to score on an RBI single by Halle Scheel. Sarah Mabie singled home Scheel to tie the game at 2-2.

Mabie later came home on an error to make it 3-2, which ended up being the final score.

Busker went five innings to get the win, while Kylie Baker pitched the final two innings to notch a save.

FORNEY 9 BRENHAM CUBETES 2

Forney scored a run off Della Jasinski in the top of the first to make it 1-0 Jackrabbits.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Cubettes got both their runs. Avery Maurer drew a leadoff walk, and Halle Scheel followed by bunting for a hit. Sarah Mabie followed by reaching on an error that allowed Maurer to score.

Next up, Kaylyn Rodriguez singled home Scheel to make it 2-1.

Forney would come back to tie it 2-2 with a run in the third inning. The Jackrabbits then took the lead with two runs in the fourth to make it 4-2. They would then put the game away with a five run sixth inning.

The Brenham Tournament continues later today (Friday). The Cubettes will face Dripping Springs (who are led by former Cubette Head Coach Wade Womack) at 1pm. KWHI is going to have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 12:35pm on out KWHI Sports Alternate Feed.

They will then wrap up the day against Midland Legacy at 3pm.
