Out of 24,914 registered voters in Washington County, there were 5,535 people – consisting of 5,091 Republicans and 444 Democrats – who voted early.
All of Washington County’s locally contested races are on the Republican ballot, so all of tonight’s winners will not be opposed in November.
Trey Holleway and David Blakey are vying for the seat of sheriff presently held by Otto Hanak, who is not seeking re-election.
For district attorney, voters will choose between Derek Estep and Dave Bunger. Current District Attorney Julie Renken, like Hanak, is not running for another term.
Precinct 1 and 3 commissioner incumbents Don Koester and Kirk Hanath are challenged respectively by Misti Hartstack Corn and Billy Ruemke.
The Precinct 3 constable position was vacated by David Blakey upon announcing his candidacy for sheriff. That role will be taken up by Brad Kuecker or Damon Wegner.
The District 12 state representative race to fill the seat of Kyle Kacal, who chose not to run for re-election, has Trey Wharton, Ben Bius and John Harvey Slocum on the Republican ballot. The winner among the three will go on to face Democrat Dee Howard Mullins and Libertarian Robert Profili.
In U.S. Congressional District 10, Republican incumbent Michael McCaul faces Jared Lovelace. Whoever wins will go up this fall against either Theresa Boisseau or Keith McPhail on the Democratic side, Independent Stefan Medley and Libertarian Bill Kelsey.
KWHI will have live election coverage tonight once polls close at 7 p.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
