WOMAN, SUSPECT DEAD IN BURLESON CO. SHOOTINGS
The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide on Wednesday involving the death of a woman and the death of the suspected shooter.
According to the sheriff’s office, dispatchers received a call just after noon that a family member had been shot in the Cade Lakes subdivision. The suspected shooter was reported to have fled in a black Lincoln Navigator and was said to still have a firearm.
Minutes later, a deputy responding to the call located a vehicle matching the description. Additional units arrived, but there was no response from the driver upon attempting to make contact.
When deputies approached the vehicle, they found the driver with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. The subject was transported to the Burleson ER and was pronounced dead.
The family member shot sustained two gunshot wounds. She was administered life-saving measures by EMS and taken to Burleson ER, where she also was pronounced deceased.
The sheriff’s office’s investigation is still ongoing. No identities have been released.
