TWO ARRESTED FOR FEDERAL DRUG TRAFFICKING

The Austin County Regional Special Response Team arrested two people after serving them with federal warrants.

25-year-old Kathleen Brown and 25-year-old Hunter Dernehl were taken into custody without incident in Hempstead on Monday at shortly after 10am.

The operation was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Westside Narcotics Task force.

Task Force Officers had been investigating the defendants for trafficking methamphetamine in Austin County, and the surrounding areas.

Both defendants were charged federally with Conspiracy to Possess With the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

Authorities seized methamphetamines during the operation, along with several firearms, including a semi-automatic shotgun that was identified as being stolen.

On Tuesday (Earlier today), Brown and Dernehl were transported to the U.S. Federal Courthouse in the Southern District of Texas located in Houston.

They were then released to the U.S. Marshals Office for processing.
