BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET MONDAY

  

The Burton School Board will hold its next meeting on Monday.

This will be the board’s first meeting following last month’s retirement of Dr. Edna Kennedy as Burton ISD’s superintendent.  Rob Barnwell, a retired superintendent from Jefferson ISD, is leading the school district in the interim while it pursues the hiring of a new superintendent.

Among the board’s action items will be an agreement with Powell Law Group to serve as the district’s legal counsel.  Trustees voted in March to have Powell Law Group conduct the superintendent search.

The board will also consider property and casualty insurance bids for the 2024-25 year, as well as a resolution to possibly remove and replace the authorized bank signatory.  In addition, it will hear a slate of monthly reports and a bond project update. 

An executive session is planned to consult with an attorney and to discuss personnel, safety and security, and real property. 

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Burton High School auditorium.
