PANTHERS GET 3-2 EXTRA INNING WIN OVER IOLA
It took eight innings, but the Burton Panther Baseball Team defeated the Iola Bulldogs 3-2 on the road last (Tuesday ) night.
Burton got it started with a run in the top of the first inning. Colby Beck hit an RBI single to score Logun Tosta and give the Panthers 1-0 lead.
Iola would tied it with a run in the bottom first, and then took a 2-1 lead with a run in the bottom of the second.
The Panthers tied 2-2 it in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Brady Griffin that scored Eli Simank.
Tyler Witt pitched a gem going seven innings, scattering seven hits, only walking one, and striking out ten.
Colby Beck would put Burton in front for good with a solo homer in the top of the eighth to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead.
Bryson Biggs came on in the bottom the eighth inning to get the final three outs and earn the save.
The series shifts to Burton on Friday night for a 6:30pm start time at Panther Field. If Burton wins, they will clinch the number two seed in District 26-2A.
