MISSOURI CITY MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR LA GRANGE MURDER
A Missouri City man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison for murder in La Grange.
37-year-old Charles Lee Tillman, Jr. was found guilty last Friday by a Fayette County jury for the shooting death of David Wayne Harrison, Jr. at the River Valley Apartments in May 2021.
The jury deliberated for over three hours on Friday before handing down the guilty verdict for Tillman. He was sentenced on Monday after an hour and a half of jury deliberation.
Jurors learned during the trial that the shooting was the result of an argument between Harrison and Tillman’s daughter, as Harrison was dating her mother – Tillman’s ex. According to prosecutors, Tillman came to Harrison’s residence at the apartment complex and shot him through the screen door.
Tillman, who for a time was on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted List after the murder, evaded arrest until November 9, 2021, when he was taken into custody in Killeen. He was previously sentenced to 14 years for assault of a family member and was on parole at the time of the murder. He also has ties to the Crips gang.
Tillman will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
