TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG FIVE CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
A wet Thursday led to several calls for the Brenham Fire Department, including two accidents.
Just before 12:30 p.m., the department was dispatched to a crash in the 800 block of Highway 290 East. Firefighters found a two-vehicle accident that was moved off the roadway into a parking area. Both vehicles were checked, and no fluid mitigation was needed.
Another accident call came in around 4:45 p.m. at Highway 290 and FM 389. The department found a two-vehicle accident on the shoulder of the highway. Units checked both vehicles, and no fluid mitigation was necessary. They then stood by and provided traffic control until a wrecker could make location.
Other calls on Thursday included reports of possible structure fires around 1:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. at homes in the 700 block of Spinn Street and 100 block of Salem Road, respectively. During both calls, firefighters found nothing showing from the structure and later discovered that it was steam coming from the roof of the house.
The department also received a call at 12:15 p.m. to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm. However, firefighters were cancelled enroute, as proper code was given by the alarm company.
