BURTON BRIDGE MINISTRY CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY IN VARIOUS WAYS

The Burton Bridge Ministry continues to take an active role in supporting the community through their various programs.

Three graduating high school seniors were awarded $1,000 each in scholarship funding, to be spread across two semesters. This year’s recipients were Cadeyn Manley, Alexander Pieratt and Michael Smith.

In addition to the scholarships, the Ministry cared for local children by distributing weekend packs of child-friendly foods to those that have been identified as food insecure by Burton ISD. Last year, they gave out 650 bags of food to children, ensuring that they would have access to nutrition when other support systems failed.

With the goal of introducing a love of literacy, they have also introduced Burton Storytime events to bring inspirational books, readers, crafts, breakfast and fellowship to participating toddlers and home-schooled children. Offerings are held at various businesses throughout the City of Burton.

The public can support important programs like these by purchasing a ticket to the ministry’s upcoming summer fundraiser. The Burton Bridge Ministry’s 5th Annual Fundraiser, "From Sea to Shining Sea," will be held on Thursday, July 30,  at The Barn at Lacey Farms, 4504 FM 390 West.

In addition to the children, the ministry's services include the Senior Outreach Program, which provides weekly fellowship meals, home-delivered meals, and weekly food bags for adults age 65 and older. They also have the Manna Food Pantry, the Corner Shoppe, transportation assistance, the Faith Mission and Help Center; and the Helping Hands Accessibility Ramp Program, which builds wheelchair ramps in partnership with the Texas Ramp Build Project.

Burton Bridge Ministry also offers numerous other volunteer opportunities for those who wish to serve their community.
