MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN AUSTIN CO.
Austin County authorities have arrested a 17-year-old in a homicide investigation.

Kody Lowe is charged with Murder after a shooting reported on Friday at a home in the 700 block of Old Highway 36 in Bellville.
According to a release this (Wednesday) morning from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s deputies and Bellville police responded to the scene after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call notifying them of the shooting.
Upon arrival, responding units located and detained a suspect in the front yard of the residence. They also located a female victim inside the residence who appeared to have been shot with a firearm.
Austin County EMS assessed the victim and determined that she was deceased. The victim was identified as 74-year-old Karen McAndrews.
The scene was secured by patrol deputies and supervisors while members of the Austin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Austin County District Attorney’s Office and Texas Rangers responded.
Lowe was arrested at the scene and booked into the Austin County Jail without incident.
The sheriff’s office says investigation is ongoing at this time.
