DPS OPENING TEMPORARY DRIVER’S LICENSE OFFICE AT BLINN-BRENHAM STUDENT CENTER ON MONDAY

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Blinn College have partnered to open a temporary driver’s license office in Brenham at the Blinn College Student Center.

Beginning on Monday, residents can visit the temporary office at 1007 Walter Schwartz Way for full, in-person driver’s license services.  Members of Texas Highway Patrol will also office at the location.

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst said she is grateful to DPS and Blinn College for stepping up to create this temporary office, offering a convenient location to access driver’s license renewals and other ID services until a permanent location is operational.  She said, “A local collaboration like this is a shining example of government working together to deliver services.”

DPS’ main office in Brenham at 975 Highway 290 West has been closed since the events of April 12th, when a stolen 18-wheeler drove into the facility.  The closure has forced local residents to travel to neighboring cities for DPS services.

DPS Director Steven McCraw thanked Blinn for allowing the use of its student center so that DPS can best serve customers in the Brenham area.  He said, “Members of DPS’ Driver License Division and the entire Brenham community have shown great strength and resilience in the aftermath of the DPS Brenham Station tragedy just a few short months ago.”

Hours at the Brenham office will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The office will be closed for lunch between 12 and 1:15 p.m.

All driver’s license and identification card services are by appointment only.  To make an appointment, visit public.txdpsscheduler.com.  Appointments can be scheduled starting tomorrow (Friday).
