DCTF 2024 PREDICTS CUB FOOTBALL TO BE IN RUNNING FOR DISTRICT TITLE
The writers of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine have named the Brenham Cubs as the favorite to win the District Championship for the upcoming 2024 season.
With the UIL realignment this past February, the Cubs were placed into District 10-5A, Division II. It will be a six-team district that includes Belton, Bryan Rudder, Killeen Ellison, Waco, and Waco University.
The projected order of finish is 1.) Brenham, 2.) Belton, 3.) Waco University, 4.) Killeen Ellison, 5.) Bryan Rudder, and 6.) Waco.
The Cubs are in their third season under Head Coach Danny Youngs. Last year, the Cubs finished the regular season with a 5-5 record. They were fourth in district with a 3-3 record, and went on to lose in the Bi-District round of the playoffs to eventual Class 5A Division II State Champion Port Neches-Groves.
Players to watch on offense include Senior QB Jordan Harvey, Sophomore RB Jakoby Dixon, and Junior WR Chris Guidry.
Last season, Harvey completed 131 out of 207 passes (63%) for 1,885 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 108 times for 308 yards and seven touchdowns.
Dixon was the team's leading rusher with 133 carries for 1,181 yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition to that, he finished with 34 catches for 502 yards and five touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Guidry lead the receiving corps with 25 catches for 658 yards and three touchdowns, and the writers say he is primed for a breakout season this year.

Last season, Moore had 77 tackles, and three interceptions. Prosper had 28 tackles, and Brown finished with 23 tackles.
