HEMPSTEAD RESIDENT WINS $1 MILLION IN POWERBALL DRAWING

A Hempstead resident is one of two winners of $1 million from a recent Powerball drawing.

The Texas Lottery announced today (Tuesday) that a pair of $1 million prizes were claimed for the drawing on July 29th.  One of the winning tickets was purchased at the Fuel Depot at 1105 13th Street in Hempstead.  The winner chose to remain anonymous.

The other winning ticket was sold at a Stripes store in Corpus Christi.  That winner also stayed anonymous.

Both tickets matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn, which were 11-27-30-33-44.  However, neither had the correct red Powerball number of 16.

No one matched all six numbers in that drawing or any of the drawings since, so the estimated jackpot for the next drawing tomorrow (Wednesday) is up to $185 million.
