GRIMES CO. MAN ARRESTED IN WALLER CO. HIT-AND-RUN
A Grimes County man faces charges following an investigation into a hit-and-run north of Hempstead.
On Thursday, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 43-year-old Juan Carlos Moreno Salazar, two weeks after a hit-and-run that occurred on August 1st in the 26700 block of Highway 6 North, near FM 1736.
According to the sheriff’s office, Salazar was traveling southbound when he forced a tractor-trailer off of the roadway. Both vehicles stopped off the roadway, with Salazar being accused of walking away from the scene without checking to see if the other driver was okay.
The other driver was not hurt in the crash.
After investigation, Salazar was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. The sheriff’s office says he was found in possession of methamphetamine and fraudulent government documents during the arrest.
Salazar was taken to the Waller County Jail and is being held on four charges, including Accident Involving Damage to a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
