A program on Feral Hog involvement has won State and national recognition for two local county Farm Bureaus.

The Washington County Farm Bureau and the Austin County Farm Bureau jointly held a feral hog management meeting recently at the Kenney Agricultural Hall.

This County Activity of Excellence program earned a top state award from the Texas Farm Bureau.

In addition to winning the award, the two county farm bureaus will be presenting their program at the Texas Farm Bureau’s 91st Annual Meeting December 6-8 at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock.

The state-wide recognition has earned the privilege to also present the display at the American Farm Bureau Federation National Meeting in San Antonio in January.

The AFBF County Activities of Excellence (CAE) Awards celebrate unique, volunteer-driven programming at the local level.

The CAE program categorizes county activities into the following areas: Education and Ag Promotion, Member Services, Public Relations and Information, Leadership Development, Policy Implementation and Safety.

The CAE showcases up to 24 of the top county Farm Bureau activities in the nation. These county Farm Bureaus and their award-winning activities serve as models of innovation for local program development.

They also display the ability of local Farm Bureau volunteers working together to strengthen the lives of rural Americans and build strong, prosperous agricultural communities.

Applications are judged based on county Farm Bureau membership groupings and multi-county collaborative efforts.
