BURTON ISD RESPONDS TO POTENTIAL SAFETY THREAT

Burton ISD has sent a letter home to parents after acting quickly to respond to a potential threat of violence involving a student earlier today (Thursday).

Burton Superintendent Vikki Curry said that upon learning of the threat, school administrators, the Safety Officer, and the School Resource Officer conducted a thorough investigation. The student was detained before entering the building, and posed no threat to the school community.

In the letter to parents, Burton school officials remind them that if they or their children become aware of any threats or concerning behaviors that they should report them immediately.

They can contact the school directly or submit a statement through the Bully Complaint/Violence Form available on the Burton ISD website under the Student and Parent tabs.

In addition to that, the district encourages parents to engage in conversations with their children about the serious consequences of making threats, even in jest.

Curry stated that it is crucial for students to understand that threats are taken seriously and can have significant repercussions.

Burton ISD emphasizes the importance of open communication regarding safety, and remains committed to ensuring a secure environment for everyone.

Curry also said that they appreciate the continued support of parents and the community in fostering a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
