LADY PANTHERS BEAT IOLA TO GO TO 3-0 IN DISTRICT

The Burton Lady Panther Basketball Team squeaked out a 39-37 victory over the Iola Lady Bulldogs this (Tuesday) afternoon at the Burton High School Gym.

The Lady Panthers got off to a slow start as they were outscored by Iola 10-4 in the first quarter. Burton bounced back with an 11-6 second quarter to cut the Lady Bulldogs lead to 16-15 by halftime.

The Lady Panthers then outscored Iola 16-11 in the third quarter to take a 31-27 advantage. Iola outscored Burton 10-8 in the fourth quarter, but the hometown girls were able to hold on for the two-point victory.

Aerynn Huntsman led the Lady Panthers with 13 points, while Lexi Broesche finished with 12 points.

Burton also got nine points from Laci Broesche and five points from Adison Harmel.

With the win, the Lady Panthers are now 10-6 on the season and 3-0 in district.

Next up, they will host Bremond in another district game on Friday at the Burton High School Gym. The start time has been moved up. They are going to start with the JV Boys at noon, followed by the Lady Panthers and Varsity Panthers afterword.
