BURTON LADY PANTHERS CLINCH DISTRICT TITLE WITH 10-7 WIN OVER MILANO

Burton Softball District Champs (Burton ISD)

The Burton Lady Panthers clinched the District 26-2A Championship last (Friday) night with a 10-7 road victory over Milano.

The Lady Panthers started things off by scoring five runs in the top of the second inning. Lexi Broesche reached on an error, and Paige Fritsch followed with a two-run homer to put Burton up 2-0. Bailey Glaesmann singled, and Laci Broesche reached on an error. Glaesmann later scored on the Lady Eagles' third error of the inning to make it 3-0. Reagan Roemer doubled home Laci Broesche. Natalie Hodde rounded out the scoring with an RBI single to drive in Roemer, and give Burton a 5-0 advantage.

The Lady Panthers added two more runs in the top of the third. Fritsch singled, and then, two batters later, Laci Broesche slugged a two-run homer to put Burton on top 7-0.

In the top of the fourth, Hodde led it off with a single. She would score on an RBI double by Fritsch. Glaesmann followed by singling home Fritsch to increase the Lady Panther lead to 9-0.

Milano got on the board with one run in the bottom of the fourth inning and two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the score down to 9-3 Burton.

The Lady Panthers got one more run in the top of the sixth inning. Lexi Broesche reached on a fielder's choice, and later came around to score on an error to make it 10-3 Burton.

Milano would put together a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit.

Glaesmann went the distance to get the win in the circle. Burton is now 17-4 overall and 9-0 in district.

The Lady Panthers will wrap up the regular season on Monday night when they host Snook beginning at 6pm. It is also Seniors Night.
