Funeral arrangements have been announced after the sudden passing this week of a Burton ISD educator.
Kim Applewhite, who taught 6th grade English and Language Arts, passed away on Monday after Burton ISD stated she experienced a medical emergency on campus. She was 46.
Burton ISD said Applewhite was “a cherished member of the Burton Panther family”, displaying a “heartfelt commitment to students” and a “vibrant presence in the classroom.”
The funeral service will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Following committal, a reception will be held in the Christ Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Burton ISD asks families to join them in honoring Applewhite’s memory on Thursday by wearing purple.
